BR woman killed in rush hour crash on Airline Highway

A Baton Rouge woman died during Friday morning rush hour on Airline Highway of injuries sustained when her northbound Toyota Avalon crossed the median and hit an 18-wheeler headed southbound, said Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, a spokesman with the Baton Rouge Police Department.

Lahisha Walls, 37, 12487 Robbie Ave., hit the truck on the passenger side of the vehicle in the crash that occurred at 9516 Airline Hwy around 8:10 a.m, McKneely said.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. This crash is still under investigation, McKneely said.

Editor’s note: This article was changed on Friday, May 23, to reflect that the car crossed the median and hit the 18-wheeler. An earlier version incorrectly stated the 18-wheeler cross the median.
