Armand M. Marchand IV, 45, of Gonzales, was taken to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, where he later died, troopers said in a news release Friday. The 2004 Cadillac SRX that Marchand was driving ran off I-10 east of Highland Road in East Baton Rouge Parish, going off the highway to the right into the bayou shortly before 12:30 a.m. Friday, troopers said. Trooper Jared Sandifer, spokesman for State Police Troop A, could not say Friday whether Marchand, who was wearing his seat belt, drowned or died from injuries in the crash. Troopers also did not know Friday whether Marchand was impaired. A blood sample was taken from Marchand for testing by the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab, troopers said. Fatal Airline Highway crash investigated A Baton Rouge woman died during Friday morning rush hour on Airline Highway of injuries suffered when her northbound Toyota Avalon crossed the median and hit an 18-wheeler headed southbound, said Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, a spokesman with the Baton Rouge Police Department. Lahisha Walls, 37, 12487 Robbie Ave., hit the truck on the passenger side of the vehicle in the crash that occurred at 9516 Airline Highway around 8:10 a.m., McKneely said. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. This crash is still under investigation, McKneely said. 3 accused of driving while intoxicated Authorities arrested at least three people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Thursday and 2:30 p.m. Friday, booking records show. Those booked and the counts against them: April Brown, 21, 745 Harvey Drive, Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, text messaging while driving and reckless operation.
