Suspect arrested in Morgan City shooting Suspect arrested in Morgan City shooting Advocate staff report May 28, 2014 Comments MORGAN CITY — The man suspected of shooting another man on Cherry Street this week was arrested Thursday night at a Mallard Street residence, officials said. Morgan City Police Department detectives booked Brandon Dewayne Poole, 27, at 9:23 p.m. at the home in Brownell Homes housing complex in Morgan City, Capt. James Blair said in a release. Poole allegedly shot James Kenner in the head Tuesday night. Kenner was transported to a New Orleans hospital in guarded condition. The shooting occurred in the 900 block of Kenner at around 11:30 p.m., with officers arriving to find Kenner lying in the road. Poole was booked into the Morgan City Jail on one count each of attempted first-degree murder, assault by drive-by shooting and possession of a firearm by a felon, Blair said. Poole remained in jail Friday morning. Poole’s bond was set at $300,000, Blair said.
