Man sought in Plank Road convenience store robbery

Baton Rouge police were still searching late Thursday for a man who robbed a Circle K on Plank Road at gunpoint.

The robbery happened about 4:45 p.m. Thursday at the Circle K on the corner of Plank Road and Shelley Street just south of Evangeline Street, said Cpl. Don Coppola Jr., a police spokesman.

A man walked into the store, approached the cashier and lifted his shirt to reveal a handgun before demanding money and fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash, Coppola said.

Police describe the robber as a black man about 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium-to-large build. He wore a white T-shirt, black shorts and a black cloth covering his head during the robbery.

No one was injured in the robbery, Coppola said.

Police ask anyone with any information on the identity of the man to contact the Armed Robbery Division at (225) 389-3845 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.
