Soldier tribute set by House Soldier tribute set by House Capitol News Bureau May 21, 2014 Comments The Louisiana House will pay tribute to fallen members of the armed forces Thursday during a special tribute in advance of Memorial Day. The State Capitol observance will be led by state Rep. Nick Lorusso of New Orleans, an Army veteran. The cermonies will remember those who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. It will begin at 9:a.m. in the House chamber, where the U.S. Marine Corps Band will play and soldiers of the Washington Artillery unit of the Louisiana Army National Guard will present the colors in vintage 1838 uniforms. Local veterans are invited to join members of the House for a rifle salute by members of the Louisiana National Guard on the Capitol grounds near the statue of Huey Long. Those visiting the Capitol and surrounding area can expect to hear ceremonial gunfire between the hours of 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.
