A deputy was sitting in a marked patrol car at the jail around 6 p.m. when he saw Eureka Martin, 33, walk over to the gate and place a folded paper bag under the fence, sheriff’s spokeswoman Dawn Panepinto said Tuesday. Knowing inmates commonly have access to that particular stretch of fence, Deputy Travis Pittman detained Martin, Panepinto said. Inside the bag was synthetic marijuana, one 4 milligram Xanex tablet, one 5 milligram hydracodone tablet and four 5 milligram buspirone tablets, Panepinto said. Martin was booked on counts of distribution of Schedules I, II and IV controlled dangerous substances, possession of a legend drug without a prescription and introduction of contraband into a penal institution. Martin also was arrested on an outstanding warrant, Panepinto said.
