Livingston SB agrees to buy land for Live Oak High Livingston SB agrees to buy land for Live Oak High Heidi R. The land, consisting of two tracts of 3.11 and 6.38 acres of vacant pasture, has a combined estimated market value of $553,000, according to figures School Board attorney Mark Boyer provided. School Board member Kellee Dickerson, who represents the Watson area, said existing parking on the Live Oak High campus is enough for the school’s day-to-day needs, but ball games and other events that draw overflow crowds often find people parking along La. 16. Dickerson said the district will use an acre or two for parking, utilizing limestone or paving as necessary depending on the ground conditions. The remainder of the property could be used for a future expansion of the campus sports complex. The School Board also approved the purchase of 0.23 of an acre at 9657 Florida Blvd., Walker, for an addition to Walker High School. School Board member Jimmy Watson said the tract will be the third purchase in that area this year, with four more to go. The land, which has a house on it, has an appraised value of $164,700, said Boyer, the board’s attorney. In other business, the School Board approved Superintendent John Watson’s appointments of Kimberly Albin as director, Livingston Parish Literacy and Technology Center; Spencer Harris, principal of Springfield High; John Hill, assistant principal of Albany Middle; and Kenny Kraft, substitute principal of Maurepas School. The School Board also recognized the district’s principals and teachers of the year. Principals of the year are Chad Broussard, of South Walker Elementary; Ryan Hodges, Live Oak Middle; and Tracy McRae, Live Oak High. Teachers of the year are Myra Thomas, of North Corbin Elementary; Naomi Sutton, Albany Middle; and Micah Davies, Denham Springs High.
