Neighbors In Action hold public meeting on Watson incorporation push

After a delay in getting the number of signatures needed to bring the incorporation of Watson to a vote, the Neighbors In Action group sponsoring the petition drive will hold a public meeting to share updated information.

The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 19, in the cafeteria of the new Live Oak High School on La. 16.

The group plans to discuss the possible impacts on Watson’s incorporation of legislative efforts to stop the incorporation of St. George, said Barbara Smith, one of the organizers.

The area of proposed incorporation for Watson has seen its population triple from roughly 8,000 in 1999, when voters rejected incorporation, to about 25,000, Smith said.
