Lori Steele, a Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman, said late Saturday the shooting was in Denham Springs and that one person was dead. However, she released no other details about what happened, the victim or the specific location of the shooting. Capt. Steve Kistler, a spokesman for the Denham Springs Police Department, said police were not involved in investigating the incident. It was not clear if it actually happened inside the city limits. Steele said deputies are looking for a suspect, identified by deputies as Wesley Holcombe. He was described as “a white male, approximately 24 years old” last seen wearing a green shirt and blue jeans, Steele said. Holcombe is considered armed and dangerous, Steele said. Deputies were searching for him primarily near Dunn, Lockhart and Linder roads, northwest of the city. Deputies ask anyone who sees suspicious activity in the area to call them at (225) 686-3004.
