Breaux Bridge man accused in Iberville Parish slaying Breaux Bridge man accused in Iberville Parish slaying Advocate staff report April 23, 2014 Comments BREAUX BRIDGE — St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives have arrested a Breaux Bridge man in the killing in January of an Iberville Parish man, officials said. Mark A. Roy, 44, was arrested without incident Tuesday at his home, sheriff’s Maj. Ginny Higgins said in a release. Roy is accused of killing Avery Hastings, 42, an employee of an environmental company that was doing work at a Plaquemine chemical plant in January. Iberville authorities were investigating the theft of an excavator at the plant in Plaquemine. During the investigation they discovered Avery’s body in a field in Rosedale, a few miles north of Plaquemine, Higgins said. Higgins did not state a date for the theft or the homicide. Roy was arrested as a result of the investigation, Higgins said. Roy was transported to Iberville Parish and booked on one count of second-degree murder and principal to felony theft.
