NEW IBERIA — Frontage roads have been completed along a 3-mile section of U.S. 90 between Darnall Road and La. 85 in Iberia Parish, the state Department of Transportation and Development reported Friday.
The $5.8 million road project is part of a larger effort to bring U.S. 90 up to interstate standards to complete Interstate 49 from Lafayette to New Orleans.
“The construction of frontage roads along the U.S. 90 corridor are such an integral component and really help in bringing us closer to our ultimate goal of completing the I-49 South project,” DOTD Secretary Sherri H. LeBas said in a news release.
Work on the frontage roads in Iberia Parish began in August 2012.
