Capitol News Bureau April 08, 2014 Comments LSU invaded the State Capitol’s Memorial Hall Monday setting up a series of booths showcasing some of the research and innovation LSU is responsible for around the state. On the Natural Sciences table there was a stuffed otter that used to live in the LSU lakes. Off to the side, researchers from the Pennington Biomedical Research Center were handing out chocolate cookies made of sugarcane fiber “bagasse” they believe can help with weight loss. At another table, representatives from LSU’s New Orleans medical school demonstrated life-saving techniques on a computerized mannequin. It was all part of “LSU Day.” It’s a day each year when LSU shows off the work they do around the state. President F. King Alexander was joined by student government leaders, the women’s gymnastics team, football coach Les Miles and representatives from each of LSU’s academic and research campuses.
