Arson suspected in north Baton Rouge house fire

Arson is suspected in a fire early Saturday that destroyed a vacant house just north of Evangeline Street, according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to the 5200 block of Annette Street about 3:30 a.m. to find the back of a house engulfed in flames, Robert Combs, a department spokesman, said in a news release.

Fire damaged about 80 percent of the house before it was extinguished about an hour after firefighters arrived, Combs said.

No one lives at the house, Combs said, and no one was injured in the fire.

Fire investigators ask anyone with information about this suspected arson to call them at (225) 354-1419.
