Rum House opens on Perkins Palms

The Rum House Baton Rouge held its grand opening Tuesday.

The Caribbean-themed taqueria is in a 4,000-square-foot building at 2112 Perkins Palms Ave., near the Essen Lane intersection.

The restaurant specializes in dishes such as jerk chicken, bite-sized tacos made with everything from seafood to lamb and Jamaican beef patties, along with an extensive menu of tropical mixed drinks.

While the original Rum House opened on Magazine Street in New Orleans, Kelly Ponder and Michael Buchert, two of the restaurant’s owners are Baton Rouge natives who graduated from Catholic High and LSU.
