Jarwin Bourque, 47, died at a hospital from injuries sustained in the afternoon crash, Trooper 1st Class Stephen Hammons said. Troopers said Dawn Broussard, 21, of New Iberia, was traveling east on U.S. 90, east of La. 88, at 1:12 p.m. when she ran off the side of the interstate, through the median and begin driving in the opposite lane, Hammons said. While in the opposite lane, she struck Bourque’s 2008 Honda and a 2010 Toyota Camry driven by Charles Robertson, 49, of New Iberia, Hammons said. All three were wearing their seat belts, Hammons said. Broussard received moderate injuries; Robertson received minor injuries. Troopers do not suspect any of the drivers were impaired; but as is usual in fatal accidents, toxicology samples were sent to the State Crime Lab for analysis, Hammons said. Broussard has not been arrested, but Hammons said troopers may arrest her once their investigation is complete. The investigation is ongoing.
