Both events are sanctioned by the International Chili Society and the cook off is hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Baton Rouge and the Knights of Columbus. Proceeds from the event benefit the children at Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital. Advocate story March 31, 2014 Comments Organizers expected more than 3,000 people to attend the eighth annual Louisiana Regional and State Chili Cook-Off in front of Parker Coliseum at LSU on Saturday and Sunday. Event Chairman Eric Miller said 67 cooks from across the country are competing in four chili categories — red chili, chili verde, homestyle and salsa. The competition is a fundraising event for Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital. Visitors can buy tickets for tastings and vote for the People’s Choice winner, Miller said. There are also celebrity judges.
