Rhonda Faye Jordan was convicted in November of manslaughter in the Oct. 17, 2009, slaying of Isaac Shelmire Jr., 50. District Judge Mike Erwin sentenced Jordan on Monday. Jordan stabbed Shelmire in the chest during an argument in the 1220 block of Robin Street. Her attorney, Stephen Sterling, argued she was defending herself, but prosecutors Barry Fontenot and Stephen Pugh said it was not a case of self-defense. An East Baton Rouge Parish jury found Jordan guilty of manslaughter by a 10-2 vote.
