Suspect in New Iberia shooting death arrested in Houston

Authorities in Houston arrested a man Friday wanted in the March 10 fatal shooting of a 24-year-old man in New Iberia.

Michael Wade Augustine, no age or address available, was arrested in Houston, Texas, on a second-degree murder warrant issued March 11 in the death of Uriah Joseph, 24, of New Iberia, according to the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office.

U.S. Marshals and the Houston Police Department assisted in arresting Augustine, who is accused of fatally shooting Joseph near the intersection of Ann Street and Sam Street on the afternoon of March 10, Lt. Anthony Green, a spokesman for the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office, said in a news release.

Augustine is being held in Harris County, Texas, awaiting extradition to Iberia Parish, Green said.
