Tate Adkins, 20, 36278 La. 74, Geismar, told deputies he was trying to hire Kenneth Ray Troy Cox, 24, 16478 Ashley Lane, Prairieville, to beat up a person who was harassing him, sheriff’s Maj. Ward Webb said. Adkins rode with Cox and two other men shortly before 8:30 p.m. Sunday to an ATM to pay Cox $300, Webb said. When Cox pulled out a 12-gauge shotgun, Adkins ran away and was chased by Cox. Cox was booked on attempted first-degree robbery and criminal conspiracy to commit a simple battery. Adkins was booked on principal to attempted first-degree robbery and criminal conspiracy to commit a simple battery, as were the other two men: Damon Dalferes, no age or hometown available; and Shane Borer, 21, no address available.
