BRPD investigating shooting on La Margie

Baton Rouge police are investigating a Tuesday afternoon shooting that sent two people to the hospital.

Police spokesman Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said one person was shot in the head and another person was shot in the leg in the 12600 block of La Margie Avenue at about 6:15 p.m.

He said he did not know the conditions of the victims.

Based on the preliminary investigation, McKneely said, police think there was an altercation that led to the shooting and others may have either been involved or witnessed the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.

BR man, 33, wanted in Dec. armed robbery

Baton Rouge police are searching for a 33-year-old man accused of robbing a residence on West Roosevelt Street in December.

Cpl. Don Coppola Jr., a police spokesman, said Jacoby Queen, 1255 W. Roosevelt St., #12012, is wanted for armed robbery.

Queen knocked on the door at 604 W. Roosevelt St. at about 9:10 p.m. on Dec. 19 and asked to use the restroom, McKneely said. Someone inside recognized Queen and let him inside. Once inside, he brandished a handgun and demanded money, McKneely said.

One person inside the home bolted, pushing another person out of the way as he fled the residence, McKneely said.

Queen took an undisclosed amount of money from the victim still inside and fled the area, McKneely said.

Anyone with information on Queen is asked to call the Armed Robbery Division at (225) 389-3845 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.

During an argument, the victim walked out of the residence on Provost Street and was trying to get in a vehicle to leave when Isaac slammed the vehicle door shut and choked the victim, according to the arrest warrant. He then punched her in the back and stomach before dragging her back inside the home, the warrant states.

McKneely said Isaac is considered dangerous and people should contact police before approaching him.
