Advocate staff report March 13, 2014 Comments Donald Trump, owner of the Miss Universe Organization, announced Thursday morning that this year’s Miss USA competition will be held June 8 in Baton Rouge. He made the announcement on the Today Show. The contest will air from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. CDT on NBC. A prominent pageant blogger had already reported that Baton Rouge would host the Miss USA pageant this summer. ThePageantGuy.com report said L’Auberge Casino confirmed the pageant has blocked rooms at its hotel for the pageant. Mayor-President Kip Holden, Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne and Visit Baton Rouge President Paul Arrigo are scheduled to hold a news conference Thursday morning “to announce that Baton Rouge will host a major live entertainment event this year.” Started in 1952, the Miss USA pageant has been held in Las Vegas in recent years.
