Kellogg Foundation will fund efforts to aid vulnerable low-income families in Louisiana and Mississippi. The Jesuit Social Research Institute at Loyola recently received the $200,000 grant. A Monday news release from Loyola says the grant will fund the research institute’s efforts to head off what it calls pressing economic injustices that low-income people face. Efforts include expanding resources to educate the public on the cost of payday lending, and support for interfaith and civic groups working to improve health care and infant mortality rates for families living in poverty in the two states. Funding for the project began in February and runs until Jan. 31, 2016.
