Police: Woman was lookout, getaway driver

Baton Rouge police on Friday arrested a 34-year-old woman accused of serving as the lookout and getaway driver in the armed robbery of several thousand dollars from a man on Plank Road in June.

Police booked Chasity Simone Tucker, 34, 4835 Bradley St., Baton Rouge, into Parish Prison on a count of armed robbery, booking records show.

On June 2, a man cashed a check for $3,000 at the Chippewa Super Store on Chippewa Street, according to a warrant issued for Tucker’s arrest. He noticed another man follow him out of the store, then get into a vehicle, which followed him several blocks to the parking lot of the Dollar General store in the 2300 block of Plank Road.

There, the man approached the victim, demanded money and robbed him of $3,000 at gunpoint before fleeing from the scene in a car driven by Tucker.

Police are still looking for the man who approached the victim, said Cpl. Don Coppola Jr., a Baton Rouge police department spokesman.

18 accused of driving while intoxicated

Authorities arrested at least 18 people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish, including a man on a fourth-offense DWI, and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Thursday and 2:30 p.m. Friday, booking records show.

Those booked and the counts against them:

  • Samuel Shavers, 29, 10726 Northdale Drive, Baton Rouge, fourth-offense DWI, refusal to take a chemical test, operating a vehicle while under a suspension, possession of alcohol in a vehicle, reckless operation of a vehicle and obstruction of a public highway.
  • Ibrahim Algahim, 32, 4901 Park Hurst Drive, Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, reckless operation, possession of an alcoholic beverage in a vehicle, motor vehicle registration required and driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license.
  • Alexandra Alley, 21, 5257 Arlington Court, Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, failure to maintain control of a vehicle and driver’s license required or expired.
  • Alison Bergeron, 24, 521 E. 14th St., New York, N.Y., first-offense DWI and speeding.
  • Capri Buckley, 34, 4833 Doral Drive, Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI and reckless operation.
  • Evan Cloud, 23, 5111 Hagerstown Drive, Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI.
  • Kenneth Cohen, 37, 5409 Parkerhill Court, Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI and failure to signal while turning.
  • Joshua Dutruch, 30, 13675 Coursey Blvd., Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, failure to signal while turning, motor vehicle inspection required or expired and resisting an officer.
  • Cody Himes, 21, 11580 Perkins Road, Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, simple obstruction of a highway and license plate required.
