Crest at Galvez Plaza gets construction award Crest at Galvez Plaza gets construction award Advocate story March 09, 2014 Comments The Crest at Galvez Plaza in downtown Baton Rouge was among the most significant construction projects of 2013, the Associated General Contractors of America announced Wednesday. As a result, project contractor Arrighi Construction LLC was one of 19 firms to receive the association’s Alliant Build America Award. “Projects like these reflect the qualities — elite skill, diligence and resolve — that have made the construction industry successful,” said Paul Diederich, the association’s president. The Crest at Galvez Plaza was one of the final pieces of a revitalization effort to transform the area into a pedestrian-friendly, cultural green space. The 65,000-pound, 35-foot-tall steel structure extends from its base into the air and outward 85 feet and is used as a performance stage cover, while supporting lighting and sound equipment.
