Safway provides scaffolding and specialty access services, along with high-end industrial coatings and insulation capabilities, and commercial and industrial services HVAC services Sam Pruet, a Baton Rouge native, is manager of the branch. Safway’s 16,000-square-foot office employs 12 people and has an inventory of scaffolding on about three acres. It also has a nearby 5-acre blast yard for surface preparation and coating large equipment. In addition to new industrial equipment, the yard also handles tanker trucks that need to be blasted and painted to comply with a new state regulation. Safway Group, founded in 1936, has more than 90 locations across North America, with distributors worldwide. SLU sets fall debut for IT degree program HAMMOND — Southeastern Louisiana University is accepting applications for its new information technology degree program that begins this fall. The Accelerated Computing Engagement program allows qualified students to graduate in three years with a bachelor of science in information technology. The university is offering the program to meet workforce needs with the rapid growth of the technology industry in the region. Students will be required to complete formal internship coursework and follow a strict schedule of classes as part of the program, which is heavily focused on software engineering and algorithm development. Many area information technology, software development and other computer-related firms have agreed to serve as internship sites for students in the ACE program. UNO technology park signs two tenants The University of New Orleans Research and Technology Foundation has reached lease agreements with SCT Management Services and Russell Marine Group, which will occupy more than 9,000 square feet in the UNO Research and Technology Park on the Lakefront. SCTMS has provided smoking cessation services for more than 200,000 Louisiana residents who qualify for the Smoking Cessation Trust. RMG’s services for maritime companies range from portside supervision, inspecting and freight forwarding to analytical testing, GMO testing, IP handling and logistical coordination services. Commodities include all grains, rice, feedstuffs, fats and vegetable oils. SCTMS will collaborate with the university on health system interventions and research into public health aspects of smoking cessation programs. SCTMS plans to collaborate further with the university on a variety of UNO’s health care management, accounting and psychology programs and to offer internships and other employment opportunities for UNO students.
