Soldier arrested after police find 23 pounds of pot in duffle bag Soldier arrested after police find 23 pounds of pot in duffle bag Advocate staff report Feb. 19, 2014 Comments State Police arrested an U.S. Army sergeant Sunday after they pulled him over near Port Allen for a traffic violation on Interstate 10 and found 23 pounds of marijuana in a duffle bag. Sgt. Horace Brown, 30, of Cantonment, Fla., was booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Jail on counts of possession with intent to distribute marijuana and improper lane usage, Trooper 1st Class Jared Sandifer said in a news release. Troopers pulled over Brown’s Chrysler 200 on I-10 west of La. 415 at about 3 a.m., and when they searched the vehicle, they found the marijuana in the duffle bag, Sandifer said. Brown was in his military fatigues at the time of the arrest, Sandifer said. Brown told troopers he left Fort Polk and was on his way to Fort Bragg in North Carolina, Sandifer said. Troopers contacted the Army’s Criminal Investigative Division and told them of the arrest, he said.
