Teen arrested in shooting at complex

Baton Rouge police have arrested a 16-year-old boy accused of shooting another teen Friday night at an apartment complex just west of Plank Road.

The 19-year-old victim remained hospitalized in critical condition late Saturday, said Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, a Baton Rouge police spokesman.

Police booked the 16-year-old into the Baton Rouge Juvenile Detention Center on counts of attempted second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon, McKneely said.

Details surrounding the shooting are unclear, McKneely said.

Eight booked on suspicion of DWI

Authorities arrested at least eight people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday, booking records show.

Those booked and the counts against them:

  • Benny Cage, 24, 1404 Jasper Ave., Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, failure to signal while turning, reckless operation and speeding.
  • Jordan Devore, 22, 5412 Springwater St., Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, improper lane usage and reckless operation.
  • Lauren Futrell, 31, 5848 Hyacinth Ave., Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, improper lane usage and reckless operation.
  • Patrick Leduff, 57, 11065 Paddock Ave., Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, improper lane usage and reckless operation.
  • Matthew Mooney, 21, 16352 Old Hammond Highway, first-offense DWI, possession of marijuana, reckless operation and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Brittlynn Sosh, 24, 7141 Edgewater Drive, Mandeville, first-offense DWI, speeding and insurance required.
  • Cleveland Stirgus, 38, 5857 St. Katherine Ave., Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, improper lane usage and driver’s license suspended/revoked.
  • James Wilson, 50, 501 N. 14th St., Port Allen, first-offense DWI, driving with a suspended or revoked license, drinking in a motor vehicle and failure to signal while turning.
