Suspect in fatal Baton Rouge shooting turns self in

The man suspected of fatally shooting Travis Harris on Nov. 7 in an armed robbery turned himself in to police Wednesday afternoon without incident.

Demonte Foster, 20, 3250 Dalton St., Baton Rouge, will be booked into Parish Prison on counts of first-degree murder and armed robbery, said Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, a Baton Rouge police spokesman.

Harris was found shot to death with a handgun near a stairwell outside an apartment at the King’s Court Apartments on Dougherty Drive at about 9 p.m. on Nov. 7.

Police have said Harris’ pockets were empty and he died at the scene. Witnesses reported seeing Foster and at least one other person running from the the scene after the shooting.
