Sorrento woman killed, two injured in Ascension crash Sorrento woman killed, two injured in Ascension crash Advocate staff report Feb. 12, 2014 Comments A Sorrento woman died Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on La. 931, east of La. 44 in Ascension Parish, when she crossed the center line and was hit by an SUV in the opposite lane, a State Police spokesman said. Trooper 1st Class Jared Sandifer said Ramsey Ogwynn, 25, of Sorrento, was heading east on La. 931 in her 2004 Nissan Maxima about 5 p.m. when she crossed the center line and was struck on the side by a 1996 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Eric Campbell, 30, of Gonzales. Ogwynn suffered fatal injuries from the accident, while Campbell and a 3-year-old toddler in the backseat of the Blazer each suffered moderate injuries, Sandifer said. All three were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash, Sandifer said. Campbell and the toddler were transported to Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center for their injuries, Sandifer said. Impairment is not suspected on the part of either driver but toxicology samples from both will be submitted to the State Crime lab for analysis, Sandifer said.
