AMELIA — An Amelia woman was killed Thursday when she drove her GMC Envoy through a yard and into a mobile home, whose occupants were not injured, authorities said.
Irmanese “Irma” G. Williams, 62, was pronounced dead at the scene after failing to negotiate a curve from Duhon Boulevard onto Lakeview Drive, St. Mary Parish sheriff’s spokeswoman Traci Landry said.
One passenger, a 13-year-old male, was treated and released from Thibodaux Regional Medical Center, Landry said in a release.
Williams and the teen were wearing seat belts, and alcohol or drug impairment is not suspected. Toxicology and autopsy results are pending in the case, which remains under investigation, Landry said.
“The juvenile and Williams were extricated from the vehicle by area fire department personnel,” Landry said. “Although residents were inside the home at the time of the crash, no one in the mobile home was struck or injured.”
