A suspicious fire destroyed a house Wednesday night on Kentucky Street near East Polk Street.
Firefighters responded to the fire in the 2200 block of Kentucky Street about 11:20 p.m. Wednesday and found about half the home engulfed in flames, said Curt Monte, a Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesman.
Firefighters had the blaze under control about 30 minutes later, but the home is being considered a total loss, Monte said.
Investigators reported the fire began in or near the “wash room of the home,” Monte said.
The American Red Cross was called to assist the home’s four residents, Monte said.
