17-year-old booked in rape at apartments

Baton Rouge police arrested a 17-year-old boy accused of raping a teenage girl Wednesday inside a laundry room at an apartment complex.

Police on Thursday night booked Ja’Darien Jackson, 16613 Hamilton Ave., Baton Rouge, into Parish Prison on a count of rape, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Jackson was released on Friday after posting $20,000 bail, prison records show.

The girl, 17, told detectives she and Jackson were walking around an apartment complex off La Margie Avenue on Wednesday when he pushed her into a laundry room and raped her. She said she ordered Jackson to stop and tried to escape but wasn’t able to until after being raped, the affidavit says.

Jackson told police “he made a mistake pulling the victim into the laundry facility,” a detective wrote in the affidavit.
