Winter is loosening its grip on Southeast Louisiana. Most previously closed roads and bridges reopened Saturday morning.

State Police issued an alert at about 1:40 p.m. that all lanes of Interstate 10 and 12 are open, but said the roads are heavily congested.

Both lanes on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge are open. However, state Department of Transportation and Development personnel are working on the westbound lanes near mile marker 135, Trooper First Class Jared Sandifer said.

Sandifer said traffic will be down to one lane where the work is going on.

The work was expected to last until about 4 p.m.

And in Baton Rouge, all roads, including Interstate 110 and the Mississippi River Bridge, are open, said Baton Rouge police department spokesman Don Coppola.

East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s office spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said the southbound lanes of the Central Thruway are open and the northbound lanes will be open once DOTD workers clear off some sand on the road.

A phone call to 511 gives state road updates from the Department of Transportation and Development, said Capt. Doug Cain of the Louisiana State Police.
