Caldwell gets to replace state vehicle he wrecked last year Caldwell gets to replace state vehicle he wrecked last year capitol news bureau Jan. 25, 2014 Comments Legislators agreed Friday that state Attorney General Buddy Caldwell can replace the state vehicle he wrecked last year. Insurance will cover the $28,075 purchase of a new Ford Expedition. However, members of the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget still needed to approve the purchase because of past problems with an elected official’s vehicle spending. Caldwell rammed his 2013 Ford Expedition into a tree last August. He was in rural Madison Parish, driving alone when he blacked out. State Rep. Jim Fannin, R-Jonesboro, marveled Friday at the prospect of insurance replacing the vehicle. “The insurance is going to take care of the new one. I can’t ever get that to happen with me when I have a vehicle problem,” he said.
