Gov. Bobby Jindal arrived in Japan Wednesday after wrapping up meetings in South Korea and Taiwan, according to a statement released by his office early Wednesday.

Jindal’s press office announced that the governor will meet with five companies, including Shin-Etsu, while in Osaka and Tokyo. Media were not allowed to accompany the governor.

Shin-Etsu is a chemical company. Its U.S. company, Shintech, operates in Plaqumeine and Addis. The five companies are all major global manufacturers that collectively have more than $150 billion in annual sales and more than 260,000 employees, according to the governor’s office.

The governor is on a week-long business mission that spans three countries. His first stop was Taiwan, where he met Taiwan President Ma Ying-Jeou and Formosa officials. From Taiwan, he traveled to Seoul, South Korea. He returns to Louisiana Saturday.
