Doctors buy stake in Woman’s Hospital land Doctors buy stake in Woman’s Hospital land Advocate staff report Jan. 18, 2014 Comments A group of doctors has purchased a 36 percent stake in a tract of undeveloped land on the Woman’s Hospital campus for nearly $1.5 million. Briarwood Investment Group LLC bought a share of the 8.7-acre tract at the northwest corner of Airline Highway, Stumberg Lane and Pecue Lane in a transaction that was filed earlier this week with the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court’s office. The investment group is made up of obstetricians and gynecologists: Dr. Ellis Schwartzenburg, Dr. Edward Schwartzenburg, Dr. William Binder, Dr. Frank Breaux and Dr. Timothy Andrus, according to information with the Louisiana Secretary of State’s office. A land holding company set up by Woman’s Hospital owns the majority stake in the land, said Amiee Goforth, a hospital spokeswoman. Woman’s set up the holding company until it decided how to develop the property. There are no plans or timetable yet for the development of the 8.7 acres, Goforth said.
