Zachary mayor: Cold snap increasing demand for gas/heat

Record breaking cold weather is causing high demand in natural gas pipelines, resulting in low pressure throughout Zachary.

To ease demand, Mayor David Amrhein and city officials are urging all residents to conserve their gas consumption by lowering thermostats to 65 degrees for the next couple of days, according to a news release.

The city’s Department of Public Works is on 24 hour stand-by and is monitoring the situation.

Residents that need assistance should call the City of Zachary at (225) 654-0201.
