AMITE — An Independence-area woman was arrested Friday after authorities say she hit her children’s father with her car then drove to work.
Terrence Holden, 38, was lying unconscious in a ditch in the 58000 block of Old Highway 51 just south of Amite when Tangipahoa Parish sheriff’s deputies arrived shortly before 8 a.m. Friday, spokeswoman Dawn Panepinto said.
Holden’s leg was severely injured, and he was taken to North Oaks Hospital where he was listed in critical condition, Panepinto said.
A witness who called in the incident told deputies Shawanda Robertson struck Holden with her vehicle then fled south, Panepinto said.
Deputies later found Robertson at her place of employment in Ponchatoula and took her into custody.
Robertson, 38, 55515 Mandella Road, was booked with attempted second-degree murder, felony hit-and-run with injury and failure to appear for monitoring, a booking deputy with the Tangipahoa Parish Jail said.
Robertson remained in jail Friday afternoon, awaiting bail to be set Monday, the deputy said.
