30th Street house total loss after fire

A 30th Street home is considered a total loss after a fire broke out Tuesday night and caused significant fire damage to the house.

Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesman Robert Combs said firefighters arrived at the home at 923 N. 30th St., at 9:40 p.m. and found the fire had spread throughout the entire structure.

Firefighters extinguished the flames at 10 p.m., Combs said.

The home’s occupant told firefighters that he thinks the fire began near the window air-conditioning and heating unit, although the cause is still under investigation, Combs said.
