Fire claims N. 47th Street home

Investigators are working to determine the cause of a fire that broke out near some electrical equipment Tuesday night in a 47th Street home.

Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesman Robert Combs said the woman living in the home at 1007 N. 47th St. awoke to see her home in flames and was able to get out safely.

Firefighters arrived at 9:17 p.m., five minutes after receiving the call, and extinguished the blaze at 10:07 p.m., Combs said.

The home suffered significant fire damage and is considered a total loss, Combs said.
