BR man indicted in 2012 Huron Street shooting death

A 24-year-old Baton Rouge man was indicted Wednesday in the 2012 shooting death of a man on Huron Street.

An East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury charged Danny Cousin with second-degree murder and attempted armed robbery in the Aug. 31, 2012, slaying of Bryan Young, 27.

Cousin, 3850 Pocasset St., is accused of shooting Young multiple times in the chest during an attempted armed robbery at 3 a.m. near the Sharon Arms Apartments in the 2700 block of Huron.

Detectives arrested Cousin on July 26 after gathering new information since Young’s death, police have said.

A second-degree murder conviction would carry a mandatory sentence of life in prison.

The case has been assigned to state District Judge Richard Anderson.
