Iberville deputies arrest three for purchasing stolen goods

The Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested and jailed three men accused of purchasing an array of stolen goods, including four guns, Sheriff Brett Stassi said Wednesday.

Martin Williams, 57, and Michael Lee, 30, both of 59655 La. 1148, Plaquemine, were arrested Dec. 13 and booked into the parish jail for possession of stolen things.

Three days later deputies arrested a third suspect, Gerald Theriot, 43, 59100 Nathan Georgetown, Plaquemine, and booked him in jail for possession of stolen things.

Stassi said all three men were in possession of several items that had been reported stolen in two residential burglaries in November.

Sheriff’s deputies recovered three shotguns and a rifle, ammunition, a 60-inch television, an Xbox game system, DVD player and a large amount of jewelry during the arrests of the three men.

Stassi said detectives are awaiting DNA results from the State Police Crime Lab to determine if the three individuals are also responsible for the residential burglaries.

Additional charges are pending, Stassi said.
