HAMMOND — Hammond police on Wednesday arrested a 16-year-old boy accused of robbing a woman at gunpoint at a bank on South Morrison Boulevard.
The teenager, whose identity was not released, was booked into the Hammond City Jail before being transported to the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center in Covington, Hammond police Lt. Vincent Giannobile said in a news release.
The woman told police she drove to the Regions Bank on South Morrison Boulevard to make a deposit around 11:15 p.m. Dec. 5 when someone approached her vehicle from behind, Giannobile has said.
The teen was holding a gun and demanded the woman’s cash, Giannobile has said.
The woman gave up her cash and cellphone and the teen then ran off, headed toward a Circle K store on South Morrison across the street from the Regions Bank, Giannobile has said.
Police arrested the 16-year-old after receiving a tip about him, Giannobile said.
