Grand send-off planned for Acadiana High’s Wreckin’ Rams

Acadiana High’s Wreckin’ Rams start their trek to the Superdome with a send-off planned for the team at 8 a.m. Friday.

The team plays Parkway High at 8 p.m. Saturday for the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 5A non-select state championship.

The Scott Police Department will escort the team in a procession from the school to Dulles, then Westgate Road to U.S. 90, then to St. Mary Street toward Interstate 10 East, Scott Police Chief Chad Leger said in a news release.

Fans are encouraged to support the team along the route. The final send-off spot is the Auto Auction on St. Mary Street, Leger said.

Acadiana High will dismiss school early Friday — at 12:30 p.m. — to give faculty, staff, student organizations and school administrators time to travel to New Orleans, Principal David LeJeune said in a notice sent to parents this week.

On Friday, lunch will be served to students before dismissal and bus transportation will be provided. Car riders should be picked up after the buses leave campus.

Acadiana High is one of two teams from the region headed for the finals.

Vermilion Catholic takes on St. Frederick Catholic High for the Division IV championship at noon Saturday in the Superdome.

A send-off for the Vermilion Catholic Eagles is at noon Thursday and the school will dismiss at noon Friday.
