Maurepas man wanted in ‘test drive’ thefts

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office says it is looking for a Maurepas man accused of taking cars for a test drive from two Ascension Parish dealerships and never bringing them back.

Deputies are searching for Shane Anthony Richey, 42, 18808 Bayou Pierre Drive, Maurepas. He is accused of taking a 2008 Infiniti G35, supposedly for a test drive, from Redemption Auto Sales, 13511 Airline Highway, on Nov. 15.

The dealer told deputies Richey had said he wanted to take the car down the street to show his wife but did not return it.

Richey is also accused of going into All Star Ford of Prairieville on Oct. 9, where he asked to test drive a 2010 Toyota Tacoma. He was supposed to bring it back the following day but failed to do so and has made no payments on the vehicle, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office is looking for Richey for unauthorized use of a movable and felony theft. Anyone with information on Richey’s whereabouts can call the Sheriff’s Office at (225) 621-INFO (4636) or by texting 847411 to the anonymous tip line. Crime Stoppers can also be called at (225) 344-STOP (7867).
