Ascension deputies search for burglary suspect

Ascension Parish sheriff’s deputies are looking for a Prairieville man wanted in a rash of Gonzales-area burglaries late last month, the Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

Lt. Col. Bobby Webre, chief of criminal operations, said in a news release that Michael Posey Jr., 20, 41149 La. 42, Prairieville, is wanted on six counts of simple burglary and several other counts.

Sheriff’s investigators believe Posey burglarized six vehicles and a residence in the Gonzales area on Nov. 26 and Nov. 27 and attempted to sell the items from the home and vehicles, Webre said.

He said Posey is also wanted on counts of felony theft, misdemeanor theft, theft of a firearm, criminal trespass and simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling.

Anyone with information on Posey’s whereabouts can call the parish Sheriff’s Office at (225) 621-4636, text 847411 to the sheriff’s anonymous tip line from any cellphone or call Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.
