Work begins on Green T. Lindon Elementary in Youngsville

Lafayette Parish school s ystem officials were joined Monday by Youngsville Mayor Wilson Viator for a groundbreaking ceremony signaling the start of the $8.4 million expansion of Green T. Lindon Elementary School.

The expansion involves four classroom wings, each with eight classrooms, a larger cafeteria and new administrative offices.

The expansion was needed on the campus where the number of portable classrooms outnumber those in the school’s main building. The new classroom wings will take up the school’s playground, though school officials plan to have use of an adjacent city-parish park.

The work is expected to be completed in time for the school year that begins in August.
