UL-Lafayette plans events to celebrate holidays

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette has several events planned over the next two weeks to celebrate the upcoming holiday.

The events are open to the public.

Wednesday: The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Student Athlete Advisory Committee hosts a holiday food drive for FoodNet Acadiana from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Cox Communications Athletic Complex, 201 Reinhardt Drive. Non-perishable foods and monetary donations will be accepted.

Thursday: The Department of Visual Arts has its preview of its 11th annual Holiday Pottery Sale from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Fletcher Hall, Room 116. The sale continues from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Thursday: The School of Music holds its second annual free Christmas concert at 7:30 p.m. in Angelle Hall featuring the UL Lafayette Chorale and Chamber Singers, UL Lafayette Wind Ensemble, and UL Lafayette Symphony Orchestra.

Dec. 10: The UL Press holds its holiday book sale from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the UL Lafayette Alumni Center, 600 E. St. Mary Blvd. The event features a special performance by internationally-acclaimed Louisiana musician Zachary Richard.

Dec. 12: The English Department holds a Victorian holiday fundraiser from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Alumni Center, 600 E. St. Mary Blvd., with musical and literary entertainment, refreshments, and door prizes. Faculty, staff, students and the general public are encouraged to wear 19th century-related costumes. Admission is $25.
