Three of five people in a car on Interstate 10 were shot early Sunday when someone fired at them from another vehicle, causing life-threatening wounds to two of the victims, police said.
They were headed east from the Mississippi River Bridge near the I-10/I-110 split about 4:30 a.m. when a white Honda Accord pulled near them, Lt. Joseph Colar of the Baton Rouge Police said in a release.
Someone in the Honda started shooting at the victims’ 2002 silver Toyota Sequoia, seriously wounding a man and a woman. Colar’s release does not give the condition of the third victim, a man.
The other two people in the car escaped injury, Cpl. Don Coppola Jr., said Sunday.
Police learned about the shootings when they were called to Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City.
The Homicide Division of the police department is investigating.
