MORGAN CITY — Additional city police officers roamed the grounds of Morgan City public schools Thursday after a note found in September at Morgan City High School contained threats against the school and referenced Halloween, officials said.
The handwritten note was found Sept. 19 and “contained remarks that authorities considered threatening,” Police Lt. James Blair said.
Blair said additional officers were in the high school and at other public schools.
“As a precaution, the Morgan City Police Department increased police presence inside the local schools and with the cooperation of school faculty began to conduct periodic safety checks and searches,” Blair said.
Police have not identified the author of the note, which was found at Morgan City High School.
